AI semiconductor startup HyperAccel announced on the 10th that it has been named as the “14th Innovation Icon” selected by the Korea Credit Guarantee Fund.

The Korea Credit Guarantee Fund’s innovation icon program is a program that helps scale-ups of innovative startups with high growth potential as global innovative companies, and is a program that finds and supports innovative companies with promising growth potential. 143 companies applied for the 14th period, recording a high competition ratio of about 29:1, and HyperExcel was selected as a representative company in the semiconductor field. HyperExcel will be selected in the semiconductor field and will receive up to 20 billion won in credit guarantees, minimum guarantee rate application, and additional guarantee fee support from the agreement bank for three years.

Based on high-performance and low-power AI semiconductor (LPU) technology optimized for large-scale language model (LLM) inference, HyperExcel was highly praised for simultaneously realizing real-time responsiveness and cost-effectiveness required for Generative AI services. It also demonstrates scalability and versatility applicable to various environments such as data centers, on-premises servers, and edge devices, and has been recognized for its growth potential as a next-generation innovator in AI semiconductors.

HyperExcel is expanding its product portfolio targeting the global Generative AI market based on LPU technology, and plans to accelerate its global market penetration through collaboration with overseas data centers and cloud companies along with full-scale chip mass production after 2026.

“It is significant to be officially recognized for HyperExcel’s technological competitiveness and growth potential through the selection of innovative icons,” said Kim Joo-young, CEO of HyperExcel. “We will continue to innovate LPU-based technologies and advance products to create new standards in the global AI semiconductor market.”

HyperExcel is an AI semiconductor startup established in 2023 that researches and develops AI semiconductor chips and server solutions optimized for large-scale language models and Generative AI. It implements high-performance AI operations with lower cost and power compared to GPUs and is cooperating with global companies such as AMD, NAVER Cloud, and Samsung Foundry.

In 2024, it attracted a total of 55 billion won worth of Series A investment from Korea Investment Partners, Korea Development Bank, KB Investment, Mirae Asset Venture Investment, SBVA, and Vickers Venture Partners. It is expanding its business area by developing a 4-nano process-based LLM-specific silicon IP and supplying “ORION” servers to major domestic institutions such as Seoul National University.
